At Supportive Bridge, we connect skilled corporate operations, communications, and proposal management professionals with high-impact careers across the UK public and private sectors. Partnering with leading multi-sector service providers, we specialize in placing candidates into stable, rewarding roles where your strategic writing, commercial awareness, and stakeholder coordination help secure vital contracts that shape communities nationwide.
As a Bid Writer within the UK & Europe Growth function, you will play a critical role in developing compelling, customer-focused proposal responses that help win new business across Justice & Immigration, Citizen Services, and Defence markets.
Working from home with hybrid access to corporate offices (Hook, London, or Solihull), you will take ownership of assigned written responses from Invitation to Tender (ITT) release through to final submission. You will work closely with Solutions Leads, Workstream Leads, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Bid Managers to translate complex service information into persuasive, compliant proposals.
Response Ownership: Take complete ownership of assigned written sections throughout the bid lifecycle, from storyboarding and drafting to final submission.
Compelling Storytelling: Develop persuasive, customer-centric responses designed to maximize quality scores against strict evaluation criteria.
Compliance & Analysis: Analyse customer specifications, ITT instructions, and documentation to ensure total compliance and alignment with buyer expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Solutions Leads, Workstream Leads, and SMEs to gather information, challenge assumptions constructively, and articulate the company's "right to win."
Best Practice & Governance: Apply robust proposal management playbooks, participate in rigorous peer-review processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Bid Library updates, case studies, and shared learnings).
We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented bid writer who can combine exceptional writing skills with commercial awareness and stakeholder management.
Track Record: Demonstrable track record of successful bid writing and winning in competitive environments, ideally on high-value bids (£1m+).
Process Experience: Experience working on complex sales opportunities and applying structured proposal management frameworks (public sector or outsourcing experience highly desirable).
Communication Skills: Excellent written communication skills, with the proven ability to translate complex operational concepts into clear, persuasive narratives.
Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage, build relationships, and extract information from senior stakeholders and SMEs.
Vetting Requirement: Flexibility to travel when required and the ability to obtain Security Clearance up to SC level (depending on the opportunities supported).
Financial Package: Competitive starting salary of £40,000 per annum onwards, dependent on experience.
Working Style: Flexible hybrid working arrangements (attached to Hook, London, or Solihull hubs).
Leave & Pension: 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, alongside up to a 6% contributory pension scheme.
Career Growth: Strong opportunities for professional development and historical progression pathways from Bid Writing into broader commercial and operational areas.
Health & Wellbeing: 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, Bupa Anytime HealthLine, wellbeing apps, virtual GP access, and 30% off at managed leisure centres.
Perks & Community: Savings across around 1,000 major high street retailers, a paid volunteering day, tax-free payroll giving, and active employee inclusion networks.
Guaranteed Interview Scheme: Applicants with disabilities, veterans, and individuals with convictions who meet the minimum job criteria are guaranteed an interview.
Ban the Box: We champion fair access to employment for those with unspent criminal convictions (subject to security clearance exemptions). Reasonable adjustments are fully supported throughout the hiring process.
