As a Workshop Mechanic within our team in Charnwood, you will take ownership of the repair, maintenance, and comprehensive inspection of commercial fleet vehicles. Working in a well-equipped workshop environment, all work is executed in strict adherence to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) "Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness." Your technical capabilities will directly ensure that our commercial fleet remains safe, fully compliant, and operationally ready.
Fleet Maintenance & Servicing: Carry out thorough routine inspections, servicing, and complex repairs across a diverse range of commercial vehicles.
Diagnostics & Fault Rectification: Accurately diagnose mechanical faults and deliver efficient, high-quality repairs.
Scheduling & Statutory Compliance: Coordinate with the Workshop Supervisor to ensure all safety inspections and statutory obligations are scheduled at least six months in advance.
Testing & Roadworthiness: Perform rigorous brake testing and conduct post-repair road tests to certify vehicles are completely safe and roadworthy.
Workshop Governance: Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment while keeping accurate service and repair documentation.
We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented mechanic who takes immense pride in high-quality workmanship and safe operating practices.
Professional Qualifications: Full industry-recognised qualifications, such as City and Guilds or National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
Experience: Proven hands-on experience maintaining commercial vehicles or large vehicle fleets.
Licensing: A valid Category C Driving Licence (or a strong willingness to obtain one).
Specialist Expertise: Practical experience working with specialist hydraulic systems.
