Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time (Including participation in the on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies)

About the Role
We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Maintenance Operative to join the award-winning team at Darwin Court Care Home, operated by Avery Healthcare. In this hands-on role, you will ensure the building and grounds are exceptionally maintained by performing routine checks, general maintenance, and basic repairs to equipment and systems, ensuring all facilities remain fully functional and safe.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs—including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building work—both inside and outside the home.
Support new residents by helping them arrange their rooms and personalize their living spaces.
Ensure routine redecoration is completed as required to uphold the high standards of the home.
Monitor stock supplies and quality, advising on and ensuring the timely ordering of replacement goods.
Provide an out-of-hours emergency service by participating in the home's on-call rota.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Qualifications: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a general maintenance or handyperson role, and/or hold a professional qualification in a relevant trade.
Licence & Compliance: Must hold a full driving licence.
Knowledge & Skills: Solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments. You must be adaptable, flexible, and consistently live by our core values of caring, support, honesty, respect, and accountability.

Additional Requirements
Satisfactory enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (costs fully covered by Avery Healthcare).
Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
