Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our trusted justice sector partners for a compassionate and dedicated Anglican Religious Visitor / Chaplain.
Based at HMP Fosse Way in Leicester, you will provide vital faith-based and pastoral care to individuals in custody, helping them access worship, spiritual guidance, and meaningful support during challenging periods. Working as part of a multi-faith chaplaincy team, your expertise will drive Anglican ministry while supporting individuals of all faiths and none to nurture wellbeing, advance rehabilitation, and build safer prison communities.
Faith & Pastoral Care: Provide dedicated Anglican religious ministry and pastoral care to prisoners, colleagues, and families where appropriate.
Worship & Spiritual Development: Plan, lead, and facilitate worship services, prayer sessions, study groups, and other faith-based activities.
Crisis Support & Mentoring: Deliver frontline crisis support, pastoral guidance, and mentoring to individuals navigating difficult personal circumstances.
Collaborative Working: Work side-by-side with the Managing Chaplain and the wider multi-faith team to maintain accessible chaplaincy provision around the clock.
Community Resettlement: Engage with external Anglican communities to build robust resettlement and ongoing pastoral pathways for individuals leaving custody.
Staff Training: Support internal training initiatives, including Faith Awareness Training for fellow colleagues.
Ordination & Credentials: Ordained within the Anglican Communion (or a Porvoo Agreement church) OR a licensed Reader, Religious Brother/Sister, Church Army Evangelist, or equivalent within the Anglican tradition. (Note: Requires endorsement by the Chaplaincy HQ Faith Advisor for the Church of England).
Theological Knowledge: Strong, demonstrable knowledge of Anglican theology, liturgy, and contemporary pastoral practice.
Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to offer empathetic pastoral care in crisis situations and engage diverse communities.
Teamwork & Tech: Good IT literacy and a collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary environment.
Vetting Requirements: This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, enhanced background screening, an Occupational Health Questionnaire, and formal Church of England Chaplaincy HQ endorsement.
Holidays: 5.6 weeks including bank and public holidays, with the option to buy up to five additional leave days each year.
