Beaumont College Carlisle offers a supportive, inclusive, and highly personalized learning environment for young adults aged 18 to 25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Through 2–3 year multi-disciplinary pathways, we help students develop confidence, essential life skills, and independent communication strategies, ensuring they can play an active and vocal role in their local communities as they transition into adulthood.

About the Role

As a part-time Speech and Language Therapist, you will be an invaluable asset to our Carlisle team and the wider Salutem clinical network. You will work dynamically within a multidisciplinary team to ensure every student has the tools, environment, and personalized support they need to make themselves heard.

Key Responsibilities:

Caseload Management: Oversee a diverse caseload of students with complex communication needs, leading on diagnostic assessments, goal setting, therapy delivery, and progress monitoring.
Transitions & Placement: Support students through the assessment, transition, and placement processes to establish effective, custom communication provisions from day one.
Staff Empowerment: Design and deliver tailored staff training on general communication strategies and student-specific assistive approaches.
Environmental Evaluation: Promote best practices by evaluating classroom communication environments and assisting with curriculum adaptations to maximize student engagement.
Professional Standards: Maintain meticulous clinical records, and actively participate in CPD, clinical supervision, and annual appraisals.
Strategic Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with tutors, families, and wider therapy teams to ensure communication support is integrated holistically across all college services.

What We’re Looking For

A qualified Speech and Language Therapist with current HCPC registration and RCSLT membership (or eligibility).
Proven experience working with young people or adults who have complex learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and diverse communication needs.
Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and intervention planning skills.
An empathetic, highly collaborative team player who excels at training and coaching non-clinical educational staff.
A passion for championing student voice, autonomy, and independence.
