Situated in the residential area of Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Dewsbury provides crucial Level 2 rehabilitation services across two specialized wards. The hospital cares for male patients facing complex mental health disorders alongside increasing physical health needs. The facility offers neuropsychiatry support, dementia care, severe and enduring mental health management, and community-focused rehabilitation, welcoming step-downs from prison settings as well as individuals requiring an alternative to traditional acute wards.

## Key Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will join a compassionate team utilizing a personalized, evidence-based approach to help patients rebuild their independence and confidence.

Your day-to-day role will involve:

Direct Recovery Support: Assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans and encouraging patients with personal needs (dressing, bathing, and toileting).
Vigilant Monitoring: Observing patient well-being, ensuring any physical, mental, or emotional changes are accurately documented and promptly escalated to senior staff.
Specialized Interventions: Following thorough training, you will participate in patient engagement, escorting patients on leave, and assisting with the safe de-escalation of challenging behaviors.
Environment Maintenance: Helping maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic ward environment in strict compliance with infection control protocols.
Welcoming Communication: Greeting visitors warmly, managing telephone enquiries professionally, and fostering supportive relationships with patients, relatives, and colleagues.

## Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

The ideal candidate will have:

Core Qualities: A caring nature, excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and deep empathy.
Professional Skills: Competence in both written and verbal English, with the ability to closely follow healthcare policies and procedures.
Adaptability: The ability to work independently, contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary team, and anticipate challenges.
Experience: A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential. If you have the right attitude, full training will be provided!
Compliance: All roles are subject to a successful enhanced DBS check, which is fully paid for by Priory.
