ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Gardener, you will ensure the home makes a fantastic first impression and maintain safe, accessible outdoor areas where residents can relax and enjoy fresh air. You will also have the opportunity to showcase your horticulture skills in the annual ‘Barchester in Bloom’ national competition!
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain grounds, lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees to exceptional standards.
Upkeep outdoor equipment and minor grounds structures such as fencing.
Keep pathways safe, clear, and tidy year-round (including snow and ice clearance in winter).
Apply treatments, fertilizers, and plant care in full compliance with COSHH regulations.
Plan seasonal planting while ensuring all gardening work respects resident privacy and needs.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a trustworthy, hands-on gardener who combines strong horticultural skills with a patient, resident-focused attitude.
Requirements & Experience:
Practical, general gardening and grounds maintenance experience.
Solid working understanding of health and safety practices and COSHH chemical regulations.
Patient, empathetic, and respectful approach when working around elderly residents.
Reliable, self-motivated, and enthusiastic "can-do" mindset.
