Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our trusted asylum accommodation and support partners for a dedicated Maintenance Assistant.
Based in Birmingham, you will play a crucial role under the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC). Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, your primary focus will be providing general maintenance services across a designated property portfolio, ensuring that all temporary accommodations remain compliant, safe, and fit for purpose for service users.
Property Maintenance: Deliver general maintenance repairs and report all faults and updates using the AORA IT system.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure building standards guarantee the safety of all property users, checking critical risk documents (such as asbestos reports or structural surveys) prior to undertaking any works and strictly following Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Furniture & Inventory Management: Repair Serco-supplied furniture where possible or arrange compliant replacements to meet Home Office contract standards.
Materials & Waste Control: Source materials and PPE exclusively from approved Serco suppliers using company accounts, maintain accurate receipts, and properly dispose of or recycle waste at licensed facilities.
Grounds Maintenance: Undertake basic garden maintenance duties for properties defined within your operational remit.
Scheduling & Prioritisation: Complete allocated KPI work ahead of schedule, addressing secondary maintenance defects and planned compliance tasks (such as HHSRS reports or PAT testing) once primary duties are met.
Practical Experience: General DIY and hands-on property maintenance experience.
Licence Requirement: A valid UK driving licence is essential due to the field-based nature of the role, alongside a willingness to travel within the region.
Vetting & Clearances: Subject to standard security clearance checks and Home Office approval.
