We are excited to recruit an ambitious and passionate Assistant Psychologist to join our specialist team at our locked rehabilitation hospital in Oldbury, Birmingham. This unique service supports adults who are either detained under the Mental Health Act or require informal hospital treatment subject to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). Every individual in our care has a primary diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, often with co-existing complex mental health conditions.

The Role

Working under the direct supervision of a Practitioner Psychologist, you will provide a high standard of quality psychological care. This is a brilliant opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a clinical, multi-disciplinary setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Formulation: Assist in the formulation of routine care plans, involving the psychological treatment or management of the patients' complex conditions.
MDT Collaboration: Attend and actively contribute to Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, ensuring holistic care delivery.
Training & Education: Support the delivery of psychological teaching, presentations, and training to other members of the care team.
Professional Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, visitors, carers, and senior clinical or managerial staff.
Compliance & Governance: Rigorously comply with company policies, including strict confidentiality guidelines and health and safety/infection control procedures.

Requirements:

Education: A minimum of a BSc in Psychology (or equivalent qualification conferring GBC).
Experience: Proven experience working with young people and/or adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and complex mental health difficulties.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to connect with individuals at all levels.
Resourcefulness: A professional, responsible approach to patient care and the efficient use of clinical resources.
