Position: Funeral Service Crew (Part-Time / Permanent)

Location: 1 Park Avenue, Newcastle-under-Lyme, ST5 8AX

Pay Rate: £13.24 per hour plus benefits

Hours: 18.75 hours per week (flexibility required for working Monday to Sunday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, plus participation in an on-call rota)

In this vital role, you will help families say the perfect goodbye by providing a seamless, sensitive, and dignified service. Whether you are collecting the deceased, driving funeral vehicles, bearing coffins, or preparing the branch and equipment, your empathy and care will make a true difference. No previous funeral industry experience is necessary—full, supportive training is provided from day one!

What You'll Be Doing

• Care & Transportation: Collect the deceased from various locations and scenarios with professionalism, dignity, and empathy.

• Funeral Duties: Bear coffins on the day of the funeral, drive funeral vehicles, and prepare coffins (including engraving name plates).

• Care of the Deceased: Support in preparing those in our care for viewings and funerals, adhering strictly to health and safety standards.

• Maintenance & Admin: Maintain the cleanliness of facilities and vehicles, and update client management applications accurately and in a timely manner.

Working Pattern & Important Requirements

• Hours: Part-time, 18.75 hours per week, working Monday to Sunday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM (flexibility needed), including participation in an on-call rota.

• Driving License: A full manual UK driving licence is strictly required for this role.

• Commutability: Applicants must live within a reliable, commutable distance of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

• Important Note on Duties: Positions within Funeralcare involve direct physical contact with the deceased and manual handling tasks (such as lifting and carrying coffins). Please carefully consider your comfort levels with these responsibilities before applying.
