The Opportunity
We are partnering with a major UK organization currently making significant investments across IT and transformation. They are building out a new leadership and delivery capability and are looking for an experienced IT Portfolio Delivery Manager to lead their Core IT portfolio and help raise the maturity of how technology change is delivered across the business.
This isn’t a portfolio manager role purely focused on governance and reporting. You’ll lead a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts, sitting between the Head of IT Delivery and the delivery teams. The portfolio supports multiple operating companies and covers everything from operational technology and site mobilisations through to infrastructure, platforms, and new digital capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a broad portfolio of Core IT projects and programmes across multiple operating companies.
Lead, coach, and develop an experienced team of Project Managers and Business Analysts.
Improve how new demand is captured, shaped, prioritized, and brought into delivery.
Build a clearer forward pipeline of well-shaped initiatives.
Strengthen portfolio planning, resource management, and capacity planning.
Improve delivery standards, governance, assurance, and ways of working without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Own portfolio-level risks, issues, dependencies, and escalations.
Build strong relationships across the wider business to understand upcoming requirements early.
Work closely with PMO, Architecture, Product, Service, Information Security, and business teams.
Shape and embed a more mature delivery capability while continuing to drive results.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience operating as an IT Portfolio Manager, Portfolio Delivery Manager, Head of Delivery, or senior Delivery Lead within a complex technology environment.
Strong people leadership experience with a track record of developing delivery teams.
Deep experience in demand management, portfolio planning, and prioritization.
Robust capabilities in governance, risk, dependency management, and delivery assurance.
Ability to manage resource and capacity across multiple concurrent projects.
Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge constructively.
Background working across a broad technology portfolio (infrastructure, platforms, operational technology, or enterprise systems).
Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, suppliers, and third-party delivery.
Experience from transport, travel, hospitality, retail, logistics, or a mature consultancy/technology service environment.
A hands-on, pragmatic approach comfortable operating in an evolving environment.
Note: This role is based in London and requires you to be onsite 4 days per week.
