Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is pleased to assist our valued client in recruiting an experienced Lung Screening Nurse (Band 6) to join their screening team in Harrogate, UK. Based at Harrogate District Hospital within Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, this permanent internal position offers a rewarding opportunity to support the rollout and clinical delivery of the new Targeted Lung Health Check / Lung Cancer Screening Programme.
In this part-time role working 18.75 hours per week, you will work alongside the Lead Lung Screening Nurse to provide specialist nursing care to individuals undergoing lung health assessments. You will serve as a vital link between the screening programme and clinical teams, assist in coordinating onward referrals for abnormal CT findings or incidental results, attend weekly Screening Review Meetings, and deliver health education to patients and carers.
Role Description
As a Band 6 Lung Screening Nurse, you will provide specialist nursing care, coordinate patient care pathways following abnormal CT chest findings, support multidisciplinary review meetings, and deliver patient education to enable early lung cancer detection.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a primary clinical liaison between the screening programme and specialist clinical teams for participants with abnormal CT chest results or incidental findings.
Coordinate onward referrals for patients requiring secondary cancer pathways or specialist respiratory care.
Attend weekly Screening Review Meetings to present abnormal results and assist in delivering tailored health education and support to patients and carers.
Requirements
Active Level 1 registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse with evidence of relevant post-registration study.
Significant clinical experience in respiratory nursing and a broad base of post-registration nursing practice (Band 5 level experience required).
Excellent interpersonal and compassionate communication skills, with a recognized teaching qualification being desirable.
