We are proud to partner with BAE Systems to source an experienced Assistant System Design Authority to support critical advancements within their Combat Systems Team.
In this high-profile role, you will undertake defined engineering activities under the direction of the Strategic Developments (SD) System Design Authority (SDA). You will support the definition, development, assurance, and design certification of technical solutions for multiple product workstreams within the complex Hybrid Navy mission system capability and integration programme—a cornerstone of Naval Ships Combat Systems' strategic future.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the development and review of technical specifications, ensuring designs fully comply with performance, quality, and safety standards.
Conduct rigorous design appraisals to maintain the highest levels of engineering integrity across assigned Hybrid Navy capability projects.
Perform complex technical analyses and investigations, evaluate engineering solutions, and produce authoritative technical reports with actionable recommendations.
Environment Experience: Proven ability to operate effectively within a large, complex multi-project environment.
Technical Communication: Capable of documenting high-level designs and rationale solutions for low-level designers and implementation teams.
Strategic Mindset & Critical Feedback: Strong strategic perspective to weigh impacts across the broader Hybrid Navy programme, combined with the ability to critically review and provide feedback on engineering improvements.
Academic & Professional Background: An academic qualification in a STEM-related subject, alongside the ability and willingness to attain Chartered Engineer status through a recognized professional institution.
Security Note: Due to defense and export control restrictions, all applicants must achieve at least a Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Higher levels of National Security Vetting may apply where required.
