Position Overview

• Role: Senior Interaction Designer

• Location: Salford or Sheffield (Hybrid working model with a minimum of 60% of working time expected in the office)

• Salary: £62,732 per annum (Plus potential additional Recruitment and Retention Allowance of up to £6,000, pending a Capability and Skills Assessment)

• Job Grade: Grade 7

As a staffing partner, Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to recruit for this vital Senior Interaction Designer position within the Home Office Digital User-Centred Design team.

In this role, you will be embedded within the Enablers Portfolio, shaping critical technology solutions—such as customer relationship management systems utilizing Microsoft Dynamics—that support essential areas like Human Resources, Finance, Commercial, and Security. You will determine how users interact with services, design clear flows and individual elements, and mentor junior design team members to foster a thriving design community.

Key Responsibilities

• Service Design & Standards: Identify, develop, and apply best practices to design services consistent with government and Home Office standards.

• Team Leadership & Mentoring: Line manage, support, and coach interaction designers, allocating tasks and providing guidance and constructive feedback.

• Evidence-Based Prototyping: Advocate for users by creating prototypes and concepts to test ideas, mapping user journeys, and refining designs using empirical evidence.

• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate within large, complex multidisciplinary teams by facilitating workshops, participating in research, and communicating design decisions clearly to stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

• Interaction Design Expertise: Strong experience managing and guiding the interaction design process for complex projects while balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives.

• Prototyping Proficiency: Advanced skills in prototyping and concept creation, including interactive and complex prototyping in code.

• Accessibility & Inclusion: Comprehensive understanding of accessibility standards, inclusive design principles, and how the internet works.

• Communication & Advocacy: Excellent ability to communicate, persuade, and advocate for user-centred design (UCD) principles to various audiences and stakeholders.
