As a Group Governance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how one of the world's leading public services organizations is governed. Working closely with Executive and Board stakeholders, you will lead enterprise-wide governance initiatives to enhance accountability, simplify oversight, and drive meaningful challenge across the Group.
Reporting to the Head of Risk, Assurance and Internal Audit, you will translate complex corporate governance requirements into practical, day-to-day solutions that directly support enterprise performance and risk management.
Framework Design: Lead the design, comprehensive review, and implementation of robust governance frameworks across the entire Group.
Decision-Making & Accountability: Drive continuous improvements to decision rights, oversight arrangements, and accountability structures.
Senior Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with senior leaders to simplify governance, clarify authority delegation, and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
Transformation Delivery: Lead complex, cross-functional governance and change initiatives from initial concept through to sustainable implementation.
Risk & Assurance Integration: Ensure that governance frameworks are tightly aligned with risk management, internal controls, compliance, and assurance activities.
Board Insights: Provide clear, evidence-based insights and formal reporting to Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
We are seeking an experienced corporate governance expert who combines deep regulatory insight with a practical, delivery-focused approach and exceptional stakeholder management skills.
Governance Track Record: Strong, demonstrable experience of designing, reviewing, and implementing governance frameworks within a large, complex organization.
Technical Expertise: Broad understanding of corporate and operational governance principles, including decision rights, delegated authorities, policy frameworks, committee effectiveness, risk, controls, compliance, and assurance.
Change Management: Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional change initiatives from diagnosis to execution.
Analytical & Proportionate Judgement: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to separate material governance issues from minor process details and build proportionate solutions.
Influence & Credibility: Strong influencing, facilitation, and communication skills, with the confidence and resilience to constructively challenge senior leaders.
Financial Package: Competitive base salary of £80,000 – £90,000 per annum (dependent on experience), alongside a 10% on-target bonus scheme.
