We are acting on behalf of Optegra UK Ltd—recognised by the Sunday Times as one of the Best Big Places to Work—to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Speciality Glaucoma Doctor to join the dedicated team at Optegra Eye Hospital Yorkshire in Bradford.
In this vital part-time role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing clinical and surgical assistance. You will diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma, delivering compassionate care, comprehensive treatment plans, and expert pre- and post-operative support alongside a dynamic multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists and optometrists.
1. Clinical Assessment & Glaucoma Management
Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma, alongside other related ocular conditions.
Perform advanced diagnostic tests and procedures, including visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), volk, CCT, and gonioscopy.
Formulate robust management plans for glaucoma referrals and provide expert pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
2. Patient Care & Collaboration
Provide clear education and ongoing support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and long-term glaucoma management.
Maintain accurate, compliant patient records and collaborate closely with healthcare professionals across the service to drive quality improvement and service development.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Recognised medical degree from a university and a valid GMC registration with a current licence to practise in the UK.
Experience: Proven experience in ophthalmology, specifically managing glaucoma cases independently, backed by solid practical experience in UK NHS glaucoma clinics, gonioscopy, and Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) laser.
Competencies: Excellent clinical and diagnostic skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
