Salary: £58,176.60 to £67,747.20 per annum (dependent on experience)

Location: Warwick Hospital (with cross-site responsibility across Warwick and George Eliot Hospitals)

Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time (37.5 hours per week, including participation in the Trusts Manager On-call rota)

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced senior leader to join SWFT Clinical Services Ltd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust) as the Senior Operational Manager for Sterile Services (HSDU) & Medical Engineering (EBME). In this high-impact leadership role, you will work alongside the Head of EBME and Sterile Services to drive performance, standardization, innovation, and continuous improvement across two vital specialist services, ensuring exceptional safety and support for clinical care across acute and community settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & Service Development: Drive the development, alignment, and continuous improvement of EBME and Sterile Services functions across South Warwickshire and George Eliot Hospitals, anticipating national policy and delivering high-quality strategic plans.

• Operational Management: Oversee medical device servicing, maintenance, repair, and calibration, alongside the provision of decontamination and sterile services. Ensure robust compliance with accredited quality systems (such as ISO 13485:2016 and 9001:2015).

• Clinical & Technical Governance: Provide specialist technical and operational expertise on medical devices and decontamination. Oversee safety incident investigations, ensure adherence to MHRA, NHS England, and Central Alerting System (CAS) requirements, and manage clinical risk.

• Financial & Commercial Management: Hold budgetary responsibility across both Trusts, monitoring expenditure, evaluating value for money on procurement and contracts, and leading cost improvement and efficiency programs.

• Workforce & Stakeholder Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership to multidisciplinary engineering and sterile services teams, overseeing recruitment, professional development, and strong cross-organizational collaboration.

Candidate Requirements

• Education & Qualifications: A degree or Masters level qualification in a relevant area, or long-term equivalent senior management experience in a related field. (Professional body membership is desirable).

• Experience: Significant proven senior-level management experience (minimum 5 years) within healthcare or a similar complex environment. Extensive background in operational and technical interpretation, change management, budget control, and clinical governance across facilities, estates, medical engineering, or sterile services.

• Skills & Knowledge: Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Advanced capability in analyzing and presenting complex data at executive and board levels, alongside robust financial acumen and project management expertise.
