Delivered in partnership with Ark Teacher Training, this 1-year school-based programme enables you to work toward your Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while benefiting from substantial tax-free bursaries or scholarships.
You will spend the majority of your time in the classroom, gaining practical experience and applying pedagogical theory with expert guidance every step of the way.
Substantial Funding Available: Eligible candidates can access a £29,000 tax-free bursary or a £31,000 chemistry scholarship to support living costs during the training year (Tuition fee: £9,790).
Direct Classroom Experience: Gain hands-on teaching practice as a trainee Chemistry teacher, gradually taking on more independent teaching responsibility over time.
1-on-1 Guidance & Mentorship: Dedicated support from an in-school coach and a personal subject tutor who provide weekly feedback and structured career support.
Weekly Collaborative Training: Spend half a day every week in targeted training sessions alongside fellow trainees from across the Ark Teacher Training and Lift Schools networks.
Two-Week Summer School: Prepare for the academic year with an intensive foundation course (2–13 August 2027) covering educational theory, lesson planning, and behaviour management.

To qualify for this Chemistry Teacher Training programme, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
Degree: An undergraduate degree (2:2 classification or above) completed prior to the programme start date. A degree in Chemistry or a related subject is preferred (or a strong A-Level in Chemistry at Grade C or above).
GCSEs: Grade 4 (C) or higher in GCSE English & Mathematics (or equivalent).
Teaching Status: Must not currently hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Work Rights: Right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the training year.
