We are proud to partner with BAE Systems to source an experienced Senior Engineer – Product Safety (Hazard Log) to join their collaborative product safety team.

About the Role

In this vital role as the hazard log controller within the wider Programme Product Safety team, you will be responsible for maintaining the SMARTer hazard log and developing/maintaining the associated eCassandra hazard log for delivery to the MOD. Working closely with the safety team, TA teams, and MOD stakeholders, you will ensure that hazards are correctly documented and that risks are eliminated or managed so far as is reasonably practicable (ALARP).

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain the SMARTer Hazard Log to ensure complete and accurate safety documentation.

• Develop and maintain the eCassandra hazard log as derived from the SMARTer Hazard Log.

• Verify the quality of submissions made to the Hazard Log.

• Convert data seamlessly between SMARTer and eCassandra formats.

• Collaborate with the Safety Team, the MOD, TA teams, and embedded safety engineers to ensure the ongoing maturity of both hazard logs.

What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Qualifications):

• Data & Database Skills: Good practical skills with spreadsheet and database office applications, coupled with a solid understanding of database concepts.

• Data Manipulation: Familiarity with data handling, transformation, and structural alignment.

• Software Proficiency: Strong Microsoft Office skills, with a particular emphasis on advanced proficiency in Excel.

• Analytical Mindset: Demonstrated ability to translate design safety arguments accurately into operational "In-Service" hazard logs.

Security Note: Due to defense and export control restrictions, all applicants must achieve at least a Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Higher levels of National Security Vetting may apply where required.
