Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with BAE Systems—a global leader in defence, aerospace, and security—to source an aspiring and driven Undergraduate Land Energetic Materials Scientist for a 12-month industrial placement in Glascoed.
As part of the world-renowned Land Team, you will support new technology development projects for future energetic materials and assist with product and process development across small, medium, and high-volume environments. This placement offers an extraordinary hands-on platform to work alongside subject matter experts and ensure that munitions products meet exacting quality and performance standards for the British Armed Forces and international customers.
Working within the Engineering and Technology teams, you will support the development of new energetic materials and processes while helping maintain current materials and processes. You will gain valuable laboratory and engineering experience, contributing directly to safety documentation and cutting-edge munitions development projects like the Challenger 3 Battle Tank.
Technology Development: Assist the Engineering and Technology Teams in developing new energetic materials and manufacturing processes.
Expert Support: Provide assistance to Energetic Material and Process subject matter experts by offering technical advice and support.
Practical Assessments: Perform hands-on practical assessments of energetic materials within specialized laboratory or engineering environments.
Safety Documentation: Prepare vital basis-of-safety documentation, including comprehensive risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
Academic Background: Must be on track to obtain a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in Chemistry, Physics, or Chemical Engineering.
Working Arrangement: On-site presence in Glascoed 4 days per week under hybrid working guidelines.
Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
