At Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency, we believe that a safe, beautifully maintained environment is the foundation of high-quality care. We are delighted to partner with Maria Mallaband Care Group, one of the UK’s largest and most highly regarded independent care providers, to recruit a dedicated, hands-on Maintenance Person (Day) for the warm and welcoming Belvoir Vale Care Home in Widmerpool.
Belvoir Vale prides itself on a "home-from-home" atmosphere, where residents living with varying needs—including dementia—are supported to live independent, active, and happy lives. If you are a skilled, practical professional who wants to use your trade and maintenance skills to make a real, daily difference in the lives of older people, we want to hear from you.
As a Maintenance Person, you are a vital part of the care home family. Your primary focus is ensuring that the physical environment, building, and equipment remain perfectly safe, compliant, and comfortable for residents, staff, and visitors alike.
This is a highly active, physically demanding, and rewarding role that requires you to work directly within residents' living spaces, requiring a naturally warm, respectful, and empathetic approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Compliance: Conduct routine safety checks of the building, grounds, and equipment in line with health and safety regulations and the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
General Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out day-to-day general maintenance tasks, minor repairs, painting, decorating, and basic plumbing or carpentry to keep the home looking its best.
Time Management: Autonomously manage your daily task list, prioritizing urgent safety repairs while keeping up with routine preventative maintenance.
Resident Interaction: Work respectfully inside residents' personal bedrooms, maintaining a calm, friendly, and reassuring presence, particularly around those living with dementia.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Home Manager and the wider care team to quickly resolve any environmental or maintenance issues.
We are looking for a reliable self-starter who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a community.
Experience & Skills:
Practical experience in general building maintenance, DIY, or a specific trade (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, or painting).
Proven ability to manage pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage your own time effectively.
A genuine interest in working within a residential care environment.
Qualifications & Knowledge:
Relevant maintenance/trade qualifications are highly desirable (or a willingness to work towards them).
A basic understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and general Health & Safety regulations.
Requirements:
A clean, valid UK Driving License.
An empathetic, patient, and warm-hearted nature when interacting with older people and those living with dementia.
An enhanced criminal record check (DBS), which will be fully funded by the employer.
