Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Change Grow Live (CGL) to recruit a compassionate, proactive, and dedicated permanent Engagement Worker to join their Drug and Alcohol Team based within a prison setting in Hull.
In this vital role, you will assess individuals experiencing substance misuse challenges, providing appropriate support to help them achieve their drug and alcohol-related goals. From conducting triage, personalised assessments, and blood-borne virus testing to coordinating clinical care with the nursing team, you will empower service users to identify risks, navigate treatment pathways, and work collaboratively toward a healthier, more positive future.
Triage & Assessment: Engage with individuals facing substance misuse challenges, conducting triage, personalised assessments, and screening tools (AUDIT and SADQ) to identify structured treatment pathways.
Health & Clinical Support: Perform substance screening and blood-borne virus testing, and coordinate clinical assessments directly with the nursing team.
Harm Reduction & Interventions: Deliver robust harm-reduction advice and brief interventions, monitoring and managing incoming referrals to ensure timely access to treatment.
Safeguarding & Collaboration: Proactively manage safeguarding concerns, complete ongoing referrals, and liaise seamlessly with partner agencies.
Experience & Knowledge: Solid understanding of substance misuse issues, mental health interventions, and experience working within a similar field.
Core Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, high IT proficiency, and strong time-management and prioritisation abilities.
Approach: Flexible, collaborative team player who can work independently, handle competing demands, and adhere strictly to safeguarding and information governance policies.
Requirements: Must hold the legal Right to Work in the UK (note: this role is subject to an enhanced DBS check). A valid driver’s license is an advantage for occasional home visits.
Annual Leave: 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by 1 extra day for each year of service during the first five years (up to 30 days).
