We are currently recruiting an enthusiastic and vigilant Lifeguard to join the team at Stechford Leisure Centre on behalf of the Birmingham Community Leisure Trust.
In this vital role, you will be at the heart of the centre, ensuring that everyone can use the pool safely and enjoy a welcoming, clean environment. Without our lifeguards, pool activities simply cannot run—making your vigilance, customer care, and life-saving skills indispensable to the local community.
What You’ll Do
As a Lifeguard, your responsibilities will include:
Pool Supervision & Safety: Monitor pool activities vigilantly, supervise swimmers of all ages, handle pressurised situations calmly, and step in to save lives when needed.
Customer Care: Interact heavily with visitors from all backgrounds, providing friendly assistance and ensuring everyone has access to what they need for a great visit.
Hygiene & Maintenance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in and around the pool area.
Equipment Management: Ensure the safe handling, setup, and storage of pool equipment.
What We Are Looking For
Qualification: It is essential that you hold a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (RLSS).
Swimming Skills: Strong, confident swimming abilities.
Customer Skills: Excellent customer service or people skills, whether gained in a leisure setting or another customer-facing environment.
Core Competencies: Safety-conscious, highly observant, calm under pressure, and comfortable dealing with people of all ages.
