Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust to recruit an experienced and visionary Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Band 8c) to cover a 12-month maternity leave within their Community Learning Disabilities Service.
In this senior leadership role, you will work alongside operational and professional leads to shape service development and deliver strategic leadership and governance for psychological practitioners. You will champion evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to reduce distress, promote wellbeing, and enhance social inclusion for individuals with complex learning disabilities and mental health needs, including behaviors that challenge.
Clinical Leadership & Governance: Provide expert psychological leadership, supervision, consultation, and oversight for the psychological practitioners within the community learning disabilities service.
Specialist Psychological Interventions: Deliver specialized, evidence-based psychological therapies, making autonomous clinical decisions and setting NICE-compliant therapeutic standards.
Service Development: Work alongside service managers and clinical leads to formulate strategic policies, drive research and development activities, and implement innovative clinical practices.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Offer high-level consultation and specialist guidance to multidisciplinary teams, external agencies, clients, families, and carers.
Qualifications:
Doctorate-level training in clinical or applied psychology (accredited by the BPS, or holding a BPS Statement of Equivalence) with eligibility for Chartered Clinical Psychologist status, alongside post-qualification training in a specialised area of psychological practice; OR
Specialist postgraduate training to doctorate level (or equivalent) in a recognized psychotherapeutic modality with full accreditation from an approved body (e.g., BABCP, BACP, UKCP).
Experience: Significant post-qualification experience (at least 5 years) working within relevant mental health settings, with extensive experience in clinical leadership, teaching, training, supervision, and working with complex learning disabilities.
Skills & Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of evidence-based psychological models, research methodology, and complex psychological formulation. Exceptional communication, leadership, and crisis-containment skills.
Requirements: Must hold appropriate UK professional registration and maintain the legal Right to Work in the UK.
