As a Swimming Teacher working on behalf of Birmingham Community Leisure Trust at Erdington Leisure Centre, you will play a vital role in encouraging active, healthy lifestyles across the local community. Operating on a flexible, casual contract, you will deliver engaging, structured lessons that help swimmers of all abilities build confidence in the water.
This is a purpose-driven role where your enthusiasm and guidance help individuals develop critical life skills, reach their full potential, and enjoy safe aquatic recreation.
Lesson Planning & Delivery: Plan and deliver dynamic swimming lessons tailored to suit the unique needs of each participant in the class.
Technique Coaching: Provide clear explanations and practical demonstrations of proper swimming techniques, correcting faults to improve performance.
Participant Development: Identify individual abilities and encourage swimmers to push boundaries and reach their full potential.
Safety & Equipment: Ensure the safe provision, handling, and correct use of all pool equipment while maintaining strict safety standards during every lesson.
We are looking for an energetic, customer-focused instructor with a passion for teaching and a natural talent for working with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Mandatory Certification: Must hold either an STA Award or Certificate in Teaching Swimming OR a Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2 qualification.
Swimming Proficiency: Strong, confident swimming capability.
Safety Qualifications (Advantageous): Holding a valid RLSS UK NPLQ, RLSS UK NRASTC, or STA Safety award is advantageous—though free training to complete these courses can be provided if needed.

Vetting Readiness: Compliance with pre-employment checks, which may include a standard DBS check.
