We are acting on behalf of Optegra UK Ltd—proudly recognized as one of the Sunday Times "Best Big Places to Work 2025"—to recruit an experienced Healthcare Technician or Healthcare Assistant (HCA) with ward or theatre experience (ideally in ophthalmology) to join the friendly and supportive team at their prestigious private hospital in Hounslow.
In this exciting role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional, high-quality patient care to all ophthalmic patients, relatives, and carers. Working alongside clinicians and optometrists during outpatient consultations, pre-assessments, and surgery days, you will ensure a comprehensive level of care across both clinical and administrative disciplines.
1. Patient Care & Clinical Support
Hold personal accountability for the delivery of high-quality patient care throughout the patient's visit to Optegra.
Provide pre- and post-operative care within your level of competence, offering basic health promotion advice with a specific focus on ophthalmic surgery.
Actively support and assist patients on surgery days, ensuring effective communication, excellent customer service, and appropriate referral to medical practitioners when necessary.
2. Diagnostics & Operational Flow
Complete advanced diagnostic testing in clinic, including Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual Fields, Pentacam, Visual Acuity (VA), Intraocular Pressure (IOP), and Topography.
Work closely with clinical and patient services staff to guarantee the smooth and efficient running of operating lists.
Essential Criteria
Experience: Practical experience working in a healthcare environment or specialized ophthalmic sector, with background ward or theatre experience.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent, alongside current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
Attributes: Highly organized with clear forward-planning skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to patients' needs while working effectively under pressure.
