Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Specialist Nurse

Contract Type: Permanent | Full Time (37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday, 5 x 7.5 Hour Shifts)
As a SACT Specialist Nurse at the world-renowned Cromwell Hospital, you will play a pivotal, advanced clinical role in shaping and delivering exceptional oncology services. Working autonomously across our Oncology Ward and Chemotherapy Day Unit, you will support patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy, driving clinical excellence and ensuring a deeply compassionate patient journey from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing evaluation for oncology patients—particularly Day 1 Cycle 1 evaluations.
Independently prescribe within your scope of practice (V300) and order relevant diagnostic investigations.
Manage acutely unwell oncology patients, escalating concerns effectively while working hand-in-hand with consultants and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Lead and champion best practices in SACT administration, mentoring nursing colleagues and delivering robust education, competency assessments, and UKONS passport standards.
Contribute actively to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, audits, and the development of safety protocols.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
Master of Science (MSc) in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Non-Medical Prescribing (V300) qualification.
Post-registration qualification in Oncology, Haematology, or SACT administration (or equivalent experience), along with a UKONS Passport (or willingness to complete).
Teaching, mentoring, or assessing qualification/experience.
Minimum of 3 years of acute oncology setting experience with a strong background in autonomous prescribing and managing complex patients.
Key Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, independent critical thinking, and a robust understanding of SACT protocols and chemotherapy triage.
Desirable: ALS Instructor certification, private healthcare background, and previous leadership or quality improvement project experience.
