As the PECS Senior Transport Manager, you will provide vital strategic leadership across a nationwide fleet operation on behalf of our client, ensuring that vehicles, assets, and transport teams within the Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) network operate to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.
This is a key leadership opportunity within a complex, highly regulated environment. You will lead a dedicated team of Regional Transport Managers, oversee large-scale maintenance contracts, manage budgets, and guarantee absolute compliance with PSV Operator Licence requirements.
Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and support a team of Regional Transport Managers, fostering high performance, accountability, and continuous professional development.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure absolute compliance with PSV Operator Licence obligations, company policies, and UK/EU road transport directives across all operating centres.
Contract & Budget Oversight: Manage fleet maintenance contracts, evaluate contractor performance, control budgets, and drive cost-efficiency and value for money.
Fleet Availability: Maintain strict fleet availability targets to guarantee operational readiness and resilience across the nationwide PECS transport network.
Audit & Safety Management: Oversee internal and external audits, manage driver competency programs, lead accident/incident investigations, and serve as the primary point of contact for transport safety advice.
Continuous Improvement: Drive operational transformation initiatives, manage asset registers, disposal programs, and develop business continuity plans.
We are seeking an established fleet leader with extensive regulatory background and exceptional team management capabilities.
Mandatory Qualification: A valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Public Service Vehicles (PSV).
Industry Experience: Proven track record managing large vehicle fleets within a tightly regulated transport or logistics environment.
Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive, working knowledge of PSV Operator Licence regulations and UK road transport legislation.
Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience in contract management, budget control, and third-party supplier performance management.
Leadership Competency: Strong leadership background managing geographically dispersed teams, with stellar communication and stakeholder management skills.
Financial Package: Competitive salary ranging from £45,000 to £50,000 per annum.
