About the Role
Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Hendon Hospital in London—part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit an experienced Lead Theatre Practitioner for their dynamic Theatres department.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours a week on a flexible shift pattern. In this key leadership role, you will lead the delivery of top-tier, patient-centred perioperative care, oversee safety processes, maintain clinical excellence, and supervise and mentor multidisciplinary theatre staff.
Key Responsibilities
Perioperative Leadership: Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the entire perioperative pathway, acting as a functional or specialist lead within the team.
Patient Safety: Ensure all necessary safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are rigorously carried out in line with hospital policies.
Clinical Excellence: Maintain high clinical credibility by demonstrating best practice, supporting colleagues, and leading during complex or high-risk situations.
Team Supervision: Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a professional, compassionate, and accountable culture.
Staff Development: Support team competency assessments and actively mentor/coach junior staff, students, and newly qualified team members to promote continuous professional growth.
Candidate Requirements
Registration: Current NMC or registered HCPC practitioner.
Experience: Significant background working within a clinical theatre environment (e.g., scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
Leadership Qualities: Demonstrated clinical leadership capability and a proven ability to act as a role model to peers.
Core Qualifications & Certifications: Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification (for scrub leads), ENB 998 and/or mentorship course, an approved/recognised anaesthetic course, and current ILS certification.
Key Skills: Excellent communication, organisation, and mentoring skills, combined with a strong understanding of patient safety protocols, infection control, and clinical governance.
Desirable Criteria: Specialist training in a defined clinical area (e.g., orthopaedics, robotics, cardiac, major surgery); experience in leading audits, service improvement projects, or clinical teaching; familiarity with independent healthcare sectors, theatre scheduling systems, and electronic patient records.

Competitive Pay: Starting salary of up to £46,550.00 per year based on experience, qualifications, and training.
