ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Gardener, you will maintain the home’s grounds to the highest standards, creating safe, vibrant, and stimulating outdoor spaces for residents, visitors, and staff. This role offers 13 hours per week with flexible working days and times.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain gardens, lawns, floral displays, shrubs, and trees across the grounds.
Maintain garden structures, fencing, pathways, and gardening equipment in safe working order.
Keep outdoor areas safe and tidy year-round (including snow and ice clearance during winter months).
Apply garden treatment chemicals safely in strict compliance with COSHH regulations.
Respect resident wellbeing and ensure gardening activities fit comfortably around their routines.
Showcase your horticultural creativity in the annual national ‘Barchester in Bloom’ competition.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a trustworthy, enthusiastic outdoor lover who combines practical gardening skills with a patient, resident-focused approach.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Practical experience in general gardening, grounds maintenance, and tool safety.
Strong understanding of health and safety principles and COSHH guidelines.
Patient, empathetic, and considerate nature suitable for a care home community.
Reliable, self-motivated, and adaptable with a positive "can-do" mindset.
