About the Role
Work at the forefront of the UK’s artillery manufacturing resurgence! As a staffing partner, Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to recruit for this vital Welding Engineer position on behalf of BAE Systems.
In this role within the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will contribute to nationally significant defence programmes supporting UK and international customers. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of advanced manufacturing and fabrication activities, bringing multi-faceted engineering designs into production.
Key Procedures & Responsibilities
Process Improvement: Investigate welding defects and technical queries, collaborating closely with manufacturing teams to improve processes and working instructions.
Specification Development: Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to ensure strict compliance with customer, regulatory, and quality requirements.
Quality & Non-Conformance Review: Review welding and NDT non-conformances, supporting root cause analyses, corrective actions, and successful resolutions.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and champion opportunities to enhance welding quality, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate welding documentation, certification, and traceability records while coordinating qualifications and external compliance inspections.
What We Are Looking For
Technical Background: Demonstrable experience developing and qualifying Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in regulated environments.
Standards & Coordination: Practical knowledge of welding coordination activities and compliance with ISO 3834, PED, or equivalent quality standards.
Industry Experience: Background working within defence, aerospace, pressure vessel, oil and gas, or similarly highly regulated sectors.
Welding Expertise: Considerable technical understanding of TIG and PAW welding processes for detailed fabrication (experience with titanium or high-spec materials is highly desirable).
