As a Privacy Business Lead, you will provide business-facing leadership and coordination for data protection across Corporate Functions. Operating within a federated privacy model, you will act as the crucial bridge between corporate leadership, Data Protection Champions, and the Central UK Privacy Office/DPO.
This is a key opportunity to shape privacy maturity, influence senior stakeholders, and ensure data protection risks, requirements, and actions are seamlessly embedded into day-to-day operations.
Business Partnership: Act as the recognized privacy lead and trusted advisor for Corporate Functions, building strong relationships with senior leaders.
Governance & Coordination: Represent Corporate Functions at privacy governance forums, coordinating compliance activities, actions, and risk management.
Operational Privacy Oversight: Oversee business engagement across critical areas including Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), Data Subject Rights (DSRs), data breaches, Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), and information sharing.
Champion Support: Provide direction, support, and coordination to Data Protection Champions across corporate areas.
Continuous Improvement: Conduct periodic privacy health checks, quality assurance reviews, and help develop strategic privacy maturity initiatives and improvement plans.
Reporting & Escalation: Track actions, resolve operational blockers, escalate issues through proper governance routes, and produce insightful reporting for Executive Leadership and the Privacy Steering Committee.
We are seeking a practical, highly organized professional with a strong background in risk, compliance, or regulatory operations, paired with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
Operational Background: Strong operational understanding of a business area, function, contract environment, or service model.
Governance Experience: Proven experience working within governance, risk, compliance, audit, assurance, or other regulated environments.
Data Protection Knowledge: A working understanding of data protection principles (or a strong commitment to developing this quickly through training), including familiarity with DSRs, breaches, DPIAs, and RoPA.
Stakeholder Influence: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the credibility, confidence, and communication ability to engage and influence senior leaders.
Constructive Challenge: The ability to manage actions, resolve blockers, and constructively challenge delays or poor engagement while maintaining positive professional relationships.
Financial Package: Competitive starting salary of £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (Band 4).
