About the Role
We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Commis Chef to join the award-winning team at Darwin Court Care Home, operated by Avery Healthcare. In this role, you will work closely with the kitchen team—assisting the Chef de Partie with food preparation and basic cooking tasks across various sections such as vegetables, fish, meat, and sauces (typically through an enriching six-month rotation program) to deliver exceptional culinary services to our residents.
Key Responsibilities
Support all chefs in managing and delivering comprehensive catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety are always maintained.
Participate in meetings with residents and Department Heads to discuss and coordinate catering functions, addressing specific dietary needs, cultural preferences, and religious requirements.
Prepare high-standard, nutritious food and beverages promptly and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.
Prepare specialised diet meals as directed by the senior kitchen team.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications: Must hold a relevant catering qualification (such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, NVQ, or equivalent) and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of professional catering experience.
