Staff Nurse - Pre-Assessment

Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is seeking an empathetic and detail-oriented Pre-Assessment Staff Nurse to join a leading private hospital in Wolverhampton, UK. In this flexible bank role, you will serve as the primary clinical contact for patients undergoing pre-operative evaluations prior to elective surgical procedures.

Working within a matron-led team alongside top consultant surgeons, you will conduct comprehensive health assessments to ensure patient fitness for surgery and clinical safety. This position is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse seeking ad-hoc shifts—including weekend availability—within a supportive healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough clinical pre-operative health assessments and risk stratifications for elective surgery patients.

• Educate, reassure, and prepare patients and their families regarding surgical pathways and pre-operative protocols.

• Collaborate with consultant surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless continuity of care and surgical safety.

Requirements

• Active professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered General Nurse (RGN).

• Demonstrated post-registration clinical nursing experience, with prior pre-assessment or surgical nursing background preferred.

• Strong clinical assessment skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
