Location: Bluebell Park Care Home, Royal Glen Park, Derby, DE73 5XE (Covering multiple homes in the local area)
Pay Rate: £16.30 per hour
Contract Type: Bank / Zero-Hours (Flexible to cover annual leave, sickness, and rota gaps)
Shift Pattern: Days (with alternate weekends)

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a warm, motivated Bank Chef to deliver hotel and restaurant-standard dining without the exhausting split shifts and long hours. In this role, you will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus, working closely with residents to tailor meals to their personal preferences.

Key Responsibilities ("Need to Do")
Help manage and lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
Prepare fresh, wholesome dishes using seasonal produce to the highest quality standards.
Help create a warm, efficient, and fun dining environment for residents.
Work within budget constraints and complete regular kitchen audits.
Manage stock control effectively.
Assist in leading, inspiring, and motivating the catering team.
Requirements ("Need to Have")
A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing.
Relevant culinary qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ, or equivalent).
Experience in helping lead and inspire a kitchen team.
A strong understanding of nutrition and HACCP guidelines.
Proven experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The ability to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
