Position Type: Permanent Experienced Professional Contract
Salary: £40,016 per annum (Plus 33% shift allowance where applicable)
Shift Patterns: Available across Days (Mon–Thu, 07:00–16:30), Nights (Mon–Thu, 20:30–06:00), and Weekends (Fri–Sun, 07:00–19:30)

As part of the dedicated electrical team building the power and control systems that bring cutting-edge Type 26 frigates to life, you will play a hands-on role in delivering world-class naval vessels for the Royal Navy. This permanent position offers an extraordinary platform to showcase your trade expertise within a major industrial shipbuilding environment.
Role Overview
Working on-site across Govan and Scotstoun, you will install cables and electrical systems, perform precise terminations, and interpret technical schematics. You will collaborate closely with wider shipbuilding teams to ensure all electrical installations meet rigorous safety and quality standards.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Cable & System Installation: Install various types of cables (multi-core, single-core, and co-axial) alongside electrical systems including junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers, and switches.
Termination & Mounting: Execute cable terminations, mount electrical equipment, and earth components to high trade standards.
Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret trade drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards, familiarising yourself with risk assessments, PUWER, COSHH, tag-out processes, and safe proving-dead procedures.
Collaboration: Work alongside multi-skilled shipbuilding teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of vessel electrical installations.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Apprenticeship / Certification: Completed a Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification, and hold an SJIB card. (Note: Modern Apprenticeship / Trade Papers must be provided when submitting your application).
Industry Experience: Proven experience working in marine installations or major industrial environments.
Technical Knowledge: Skilled in reading electrical schematics, conducting safe proving-dead procedures, and executing cable terminations.
Working Arrangement: Full on-site presence in Glasgow (Govan/Scotstoun), with the ability to attend an in-person recruitment day.
Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
