We are seeking a dedicated night professional for a Residential Family Assessment Centre (a busy and challenging 7-bedroom assessment unit). This is a highly trusted waking-night role that requires incredible sensitivity, excellent safeguarding awareness, and a strong ethos of providing effective support to parent and child placements.

What will you do as a Night Family Support Worker?

Working within a dedicated multi-disciplinary team, you will ensure the safety, wellbeing, and positive progression of families during the night-time hours.

Your day-to-day (and night-to-night) will include:

Waking Duty & Monitoring: Overseeing parent and child placements on a waking duty, actively monitoring the safety of families and utilizing CCTV throughout the night.
Safeguarding Excellence: Maintaining the highest possible safeguarding standards in line with Ofsted regulations to keep vulnerable infants and parents safe.
Complex Family Support: Providing high-quality, non-judgmental support to families navigating complex situations and assessment periods.
Team Collaboration: Working seamlessly within a shift pattern of 10pm to 8am across a 7-day rolling rota, with a flexible approach to ensuring complete unit cover.

What we are looking for:

Because of the specialized and highly regulated nature of a family assessment unit, we require candidates with a proven background in childcare or family services.

Essential Requirements:

Experience: At least 2 years’ experience working in a Children’s Residential, Early Years, or Children’s Social Care setting.
Safeguarding Knowledge: A strong understanding and practical experience of safeguarding and working with complex families.
Communication: The ability to communicate calmly and effectively in complex, sensitive, or challenging situations.

Preferable (But Not Essential):

Experience working in partnership with external agencies (e.g., Safeguarding or Looked After Children’s Teams).
A Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children/Young People or Parent & Child)—please note, this can be completed while in post!
