About the Role
We are recruiting a Bank Chef on a 0-hour flexible contract to provide essential cover for annual leave, sickness, and rota gaps across care homes in the Derby area, starting at Bluebell Park Care Home.
In this flexible role, you will deliver hotel- and restaurant-standard dining without split shifts or late nights. Working with fresh, seasonal produce, you will assist the Head Chef in preparing nutritious, flavoursome, person-centred meals and step up to manage kitchen operations in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and present high-quality, wholesome dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Assist the Head Chef and manage kitchen operations, team motivation, and food service in their absence.
Tailor menus to residents' preferences and nutritional requirements.
Maintain kitchen safety standards, HACCP compliance, stock control, and food safety audits.
Provide flexible cover across local homes to support planned and unexpected rota gaps.
About You
To join us as a Bank Chef, you will bring:
City & Guilds / NVQ / SVQ (or equivalent) culinary qualification.
Proven experience working with fresh, seasonal produce and a solid understanding of nutrition.
Good working knowledge of HACCP regulations and kitchen safety.
Experience assisting with team leadership and kitchen management.
