Support Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with vital immigration and support services to connect empathetic, resilient professionals with meaningful community careers. We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join Yarls Wood Immigration Centre as Detention Custody Officers (DCO).
In this role, you will support people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Relying heavily on communication, empathy, and respect rather than just authority, you will help create a safe, secure environment while treating every resident with dignity. Safe Environment: Maintain safety, security, and order across the centre.
Positive Relationships: Build professional, respectful relationships with residents from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
De-escalation: Calmly manage and de-escalate challenging situations using strong listening and communication skills.
Resident Support: Support individuals who may be scared, frustrated, or vulnerable through difficult moments with compassion and non-judgement.
Key Traits: Calm under pressure, able to listen without judgement, and confident handling difficult situations.
Cultural Awareness: Deeply respectful of every background, culture, and individual circumstance.
Vetting & Eligibility: Must already possess the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available, typically requiring Indefinite Leave to Remain and 3+ years living in the UK).
Security Clearances: Must be able to pass Home Office Counter Terrorist Check (CTC), Enhanced DBS (adult and child barring), and a 5-year checkable history.
Comprehensive Training: A 7-week fully paid training program covering conflict resolution, communication, and cultural awareness, with clear pathways into leadership and specialist roles.
