About the Role
As an Optical Colleague at Asda, you will be the friendly face of patient care, delivering the same warmth and community spirit that customers experience across the rest of the store. You will help make vision care accessible, stress-free, and affordable.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Pre-Screening: Welcome patients, prepare them for eye examinations, explain test stages, and complete pre-screening checks.
Customer Service: Book appointments, warmly discuss personal ocular health needs, quickly resolve queries, and guide customers to the right products.
Dispensing & Adjustments: Dispense spectacles and contact lenses, handle frame repairs and adjustments, and ensure stock is successfully received from suppliers.
Training & Development: Complete Asda’s dedicated Optical Step In training programme or enroll in the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship (depending on region and eligibility) to master your craft and unlock future career growth.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Attributes):
Age & Vetting: You must be over the age of 18 and willing to pass an enhanced safeguarding check.
Personality: Naturally friendly, outgoing, and passionate about helping people and delivering exceptional healthcare experiences.
Skills: Highly organized with great computer skills, strong attention to detail, good numerical skills, and a love for problem-solving.
Flexibility: Comfortable working flexible shift patterns, including late shifts and weekend working to match store operations.
