About the Role

At Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency, we are currently recruiting a Bank Kitchen Assistant on behalf of Barchester Healthcare to join the catering team at Bloomfield Care Home in Bath, Somerset.

In this adaptable day-shift role, you will step in to provide cover for planned or unplanned staff absences, helping the kitchen team prepare and serve wholesome, nutritious meals. Beyond basic food preparation and kitchen hygiene, you will play an active role in resident hospitality—getting to know our residents, understanding their personal tastes, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation & Service: Assist chefs with basic meal preparation, portioning, and dish plating to ensure a high standard of dining service.

• Kitchen Hygiene & Safety: Maintain clean, sanitary kitchen work surfaces, handle dishwashing and equipment cleaning, and manage food waste safely.

• Stock Handling: Help receive, organize, and store catering supplies in line with food safety guidelines.

• Resident Hospitality: Warmly engage with residents during mealtimes, helping ensure individual dietary needs and meal preferences are met.

• Flexible Bank Cover: Step in on day shifts as needed to support the home during busy periods, annual leave, or sickness.

About You

• Attributes: Reliable, considerate, caring, and detail-oriented with a flexible approach to work patterns.

• Experience: Formal qualifications are not required! Prior experience in a commercial kitchen or care home environment is helpful, but full training will be provided.

• Teamwork & Skills: Good communication skills, a positive "can-do" attitude, and a strong commitment to kitchen hygiene.
