Position Type: Fixed Term (Maternity Cover) | Flexible Options: 0.8 FTE (26 Hours/Week) or 1.0 FTE (32.5 Hours/Week)
Start Date: Flexible start between October 2026 and January 2027
Salary: £68,000.00 – £75,000.00 per annum (pro-rata if part-time) + Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) & Lift Schools Benefits

Supportive Bridge Staffing is seeking an exceptional, highly credible Regional English Lead to drive subject-specific school improvement across the North region for our client, Lift Schools.
This high-impact maternity cover role blends strategic leadership, regional coaching, and hands-on practice. Working alongside the National Lead for Secondary English and North Regional Education Director Nigel Whittle, you will collaborate with Principals and Heads of Department across Sheffield, Middlesbrough, and Hull to elevate English teaching standards, build team capacity, and boost student outcomes.
Working Pattern & Base:
Teaching Days: 2 days per week teaching in the classroom at Lift Firth Park (Sheffield) to lead by example and model outstanding practice.
Regional/Home Days: Remaining days are home-based, with funded travel to regional schools in Middlesbrough and Hull to conduct coaching and strategy implementation.
Strategic English Leadership: Implement the regional English curriculum and instructional strategy, driving high academic standards across northern secondary schools.
Coaching & Mentorship: Provide expert guidance, practical counsel, and professional development to English Heads of Department and teachers.
Modelling Excellence: Maintain a 2-day teaching timetable at Lift Firth Park to model best practices and stay grounded in classroom delivery.
Shared Accountability: Partner with school leaders and Regional Directors to take joint ownership of student outcomes in secondary English.
National Contribution: Develop specialized subject expertise to share best practices across the broader 62-school Lift Schools network.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven track record as a successful secondary English leader with a clear history of raising student achievement and teaching quality.
Deep knowledge of secondary English pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment.
Leadership & Strategy:
Collaborative approach with the ability to build capacity, advise Principals, and foster shared accountability.
Strategic mindset paired with the enthusiasm to teach directly in local classrooms.
Flexibility to travel within the North region as required (travel expenses fully funded).
